Our Story
About
Our journey began with an extraordinary German Shepherd named Moose. He not only saved my life but also was my beloved Service Dog, providing unwavering support and companionship. After his passing, I found it difficult to envision welcoming another German Shepherd into my life, so I began exploring other breeds. It was during this search that I fell in love with the Standard Poodle, a breed that resonated with me deeply, particularly since we had a toy poodle cross in our family at the time.
Finding a dog that could meet my unique needs and accompany me in every aspect of my life from being my service dog to participating in various dog sports, confirmation ring, grooming shows, and more proved to be quite challenging. This realization inspired me to a new goal, to breed my own dogs, allowing me to create a lineage that not only met my personal requirements but also offered a reliable and loving resource for others with similar aspirations.
I chose the name Scintilla Kennels because "Scintilla" means a tiny trace or spark of a specified quality or feeling. My hope is to breed dogs that embody this essence and bring that special spark to the lives of their new families.
